Ensemble Evolution prepares the 21st century musician by promoting artistic excellence, fostering social consciousness, and exploring community-building through music. Participants will present various public and in-house performances. The residency will produce nearly a concert per day for three weeks—from publicized, ticketed events to participant-driven “throw downs” to simultaneous open studio performances.

Rite of Spring and Prelude to an Afternoon of a Faun
Conducted by Maria Mercedes Diaz Garcia, this program features chamber music versions of Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun (Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, 1894) and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring (Le Sacre du printemps, 1913). Formed in 2016 VIVE! Ensemble has presented new and creative versions of revived classics, and has premiered new works by composers across the spectrum of the contemporary scene. Its members are a collective of performers connected to BGSU, including faculty, doctoral candidates, alumni and guest artists connected to its internationally acclaimed program in contemporary music
